T12: healthy streets: public health and quality of life

This virtual and in-person conference argues that cities are sites of interconnected problems across disciplines. For example, while architecture, urbanization, resilience, housing and healthy cities all respond to unique and independent demands, they are also interrelated. As a result, innovations in one area are useful in another. This conference suggests that: i) this interrelated dynamic is most evident in the issue of climate change and; ii) that the host city, New York, offers a perfect example of the interconnected urban phenomena. The conference debates the city as a complexity entity in constant change from a cross-disciplinary perspective.
