We seek to encourage theoretical, political, historical, and generally critical engagement with a variety of texts, ranging from television shows, advertisements, journalism, social media, film, literature, graphic fiction, photography, and live performance and to promote active discussion. We invite short (8-12 minute) papers that might include but are not limited to the following themes & topics: redeployment of mythological figures. Cultures of censorship. value and limits of performative theories. Gender, genre and form in a digital age Representations of minorities, marginalised, indigenous politics of comedy and humour New understandings of sexualities Uses and abuses of traditions, rituals, and beliefs
