About The prevention of radicalisation

YEIP - THE YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND INNOVATION PROJECT, a 3-year Erasmus+ funded project, is trying to design a positive policy prevention framework for tackling and preventing marginalisation and violent radicalisation among young people, constructing and testing innovative policy intervention models, founded on the principles of the Good Lives Model and positive psychology. Anziani e non solo, YEIP’s Italian partner together with Liguria Region, in collaboration with CRID-Interdepartmental Research Centre on Discrimination and vulnerabilities, will host the opening international conference. It will be an occasion to present and debate the project’s results and share experiences and knowledge.

Call for Papers

People interested in presenting a paper at the conference should send an abstract.

Each selected abstract will be given a time slot of 20 minutes to present the full paper. Intercultural and Interdisciplinary approaches are welcome.

THEMES:

  • Reasons, causes and consequences of radicalisation in young people
  • Constitutive elements and characteristics of radicalisation in young people
  • Definition and typologies of radicalisation
  • Subjects at risk of radicalisation 
  • Ways of radicalisation prevention in young people
  • Practical examples of prevention of radicalisation in young people
  • Reasons, causes and consequences of marginalisation and social exclusion in young people
  • Constitutive elements and characteristics of marginalisation and social exclusion in young people
  • Subject at risk of social exclusion and marginalisation
  • Ways of prevention of social exclusion and marginalisation
  • Practical examples of prevention of marginalisation and social exclusion in young people 
  • Connections between marginalisation and radicalisation
  • Violent extremism, populism, hate crimes and their impact on young people

Please be aware that these are just some guidelines. They do not preclude the possibility of hosting further thematic studies related to the fundamental topics of radicalisation and social exclusion.

Please, send an Abstract of no more than 500 words (bibliography excluded), to Anziani e non solo email address YEIP@ anzianienonsolo.it, by no later than 1 September 2017.

Abstracts will be read and evaluated by September the 25th 2017.

Upon approval of abstracts, a draft paper (maximum of 3000 words, bibliography excluded) will be requested by October the 16th 2017.

The language of the presentation can be English or Italian.

Anziani e non solo will cover travel and subsistence costs up to 300€ to the selected speakers.
