About AAEM- FALL 2020

The American Academy of Environmental Medicine’s goal for this meeting is to provide an inclusive forum for the exchange and dissemination of knowledge about the pathophysiological effects of pollution on your patients. We will educate practitioners to recognize the roles of environmental exposures in many common clinical diseases. We invite new insights based on valid studies and clinically effective treatment options, emphasizing practical strategies that can be incorporated into clinical practice. Practitioners who utilize this innovative information in their practices should expect to obtain more effective treatment outcomes for their patients with these environmentally linked conditions.

Call for Papers

Addressing the challenging diagnosis and treatment of environmental toxicant exposure, speakers are requested to enhance attendees’ understanding of its many sources and multi-systemic mechanisms – and empower them to implement successful, evidence-based treatment. The hazards of environmental chemicals are increasingly appreciated. For example, we have long been aware that products of combustion pose a danger for firefighters. The toxic sequelae are emphatically demonstrated amongst the 9-11-01 first responders, as reported by the CDC and in the world’s press. Firefighters toil in the front lines of the battle with environmental toxins; the consequences they endure are a caution for all thoughtful people. The resultant adverse and expensive impacts on the quality of life in our first responders are obvious.  Not only first responders, but any person with environmental exposures is experiencing adverse health outcomes which have reached alarming proportions. This program is dedicated to those brave firefighters, who risk so much to protect others, as well as those environmentally ill patients we see everyday.

Presentations of 30 to 60 minutes should incorporate at least one of the following stated objectives.  At least one paper specifically addressing toxicity among first-responders will be given preference.
