About IIEMBS2020

The postgraduate students of the MA in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History of Macedonia at the International Hellenic University are organizing an international conference entitled: Interpreting Identities in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea. The subject of the Conference focuses on different perspectives of outlining, capturing and interpreting identities from Prehistory to Late Byzantine Era, through the disciplines of History, Archaeology and other relevant fields such as Social Anthropology etc. The aim is to encourage young researchers to participate by presenting topics related to their interests and to engage in a lively and productive scholarly discourse.

Call for Papers

The conference welcomes submissions by postgraduate (Master's)students  or people who hold a postgraduate degree from Greece or abroad.  Specific but not exclusive themes include: perception of identities in ancient literary sources, ancient numismatics, Religions and cults, burial customs, social and political parameters of identities. Papers should not exceed 20 minutes and can be presented either in Greek or in English.  Those who are interested in participating should kindly send:  title and abstract or around 200 words along with five keywords, Name and Surname, academic affiliation, University and contact details. Paper proposals should be submitted by 15 September 2019 to ihu.conference@gmail.com.
