About ICHPPI2019

The main theme of the conference, the shift “From disciplinary controls to securitarian controls”, aims at continuing the topics and concepts developed at the first Congress, held in Ciudad Real (Spain) in 2013. The purpose of the Congress is to provide an occasion for collective and rigorous discussion, a framework in which participants can share their research on prison and punitive institutions, both from an historical perspective and in relation to the increasing restriction of rights and guarantees observed worldwide since the beginning of the 21st century. This multidisciplinary perspective is encouraged by the composition of the committees.

Topics

Sociology, Anthropology, Punitive institutions, History of prison
