The #AcademicTwitter Retreat is not your typical academic conference. The Retreat’s collaborative format allows us to share best practices of community building and serves as a space for academics to connect with each other. Retreat attendees will participate in hands-on activities and small group discussions. The Retreat will be held at the MGM Grand Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The theme of this year’s #AcademicTwitter Retreat is “community in academia.” As grad students, postdocs, and faculty, we know our content, but do we know the importance of building a community of support? What are best practices for community building? How can we leverage social media as a community? What are the benefits and costs of participating in the #AcademicTwitter community? How can we support the mental health of our community?
We welcome 250-500 word abstract submissions for 3-minute lightning talks on the topic of “community in academia.” Please send abstracts to thephdstory2019@gmail.com by Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 11:59pm PST. Letters of acceptance will be sent out by April 1, 2020.
